Great contribution to the construction of the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin, in the Holy Monastery of Panormiti on the island of Symi.
Another generous act of love by the Maritime Chapter, with the great contribution to the construction of the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin, in the Holy Monastery of Panormiti on the island of Symi.
This heartfelt contribution was made in the context of a series of actions of multiple social and charitable giving, which the Maritime Chapter Hj-45 "St' Nicholas" has been carrying out continuously since its establishment, consistently serving the principles and values of the global AHEPA family.
On March 26, 2023, with the completion of its construction, the inauguration of the Chapel of the Annunciation of the Theotokos took place in a magnificent procession, by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Symi, Tilos, Chalkis and Kastelorizo Mr. Chrysostomos II, Archimandrite Antonio Patros and many other clergy , as well as a large delegation of brothers from our Chapter, who traveled to the island for this purpose.
The Mayor of Symi, Mr. Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, the Commander D. A. N., the Colonel Mr. Panagiotis Vranas, the Commander of the 549 T.E. Symis Mr. Georgios Kampilaukos, as well as other Representatives of the local Authorities, Agencies and Associations.
Also, the inauguration ceremony was honored with their presence by hundreds of believers, both from Symi and from all over Greece, who came to experience their pilgrimage to the new Church with enthusiasm.
After the inauguration of the Temple, an official thanksgiving meal followed in the Dining Hall of the Monastery.
A special experience for everyone was our reverent pilgrimage to the Monastery of Saint Michael the Archangel of Panormitis, one of the most important Pilgrimage destinations in Greece, with its impressive bell tower and glorious history dating back centuries. A Monastery that attracts thousands of pilgrims, who receive mental and physical rest in its bosom.
The Monks welcomed us with solemn ringing of bells in a joyful atmosphere, they showed us around the blessed Monastery and hosted us in a stately manner!
The climax of the excitement was the pilgrimage to the Ephesian Icon of the Archangel Michael, which with its size, its heavenly light, its silver-plated surface and its miraculous power causes the awe and respect of the pilgrims.
Completing this wonderful journey, we would like to thank the Brothers of the Maritime Chapter for their generous and moving participation in what we dream and realize together, giving our best! For the images we saw, the experiences of joy, giving and love we tasted and will bond us forever.
Let the Easter atmosphere of the days that vibrated the atmosphere of our trip be for all of us a wonderful pre-shock for the great Easter celebration, which we all await with reverence and hope for the best things to come!
We wish the thousands of AHEPA members around the world and all Greek compatriots on earth a happy Resurrection! With peace, prosperity and love to all!
May the Eternal Light guide our steps in fellowship, solidarity and acts of love and social solidarity!
